Salem VA to Prattville AL : Ashville NC

A little further down the road, ASHEVILLE!!



 





The Downtown is a great walking and shopping area, and of course there is a yarn store!

Then off for Lunch.  It took a couple times around the block to find it, but it was worth the effort!

Ok, Back on the road.

Salem VA to Prattville AL Bristol VA and Bristol TN

Two hours down the road, is Bristol VA and Bristol TN:

We heard about a great cupcake place here in Bristol:  






Off to buy Biltmore Wine and then to Asheville

Salem VA to Prattville AL - Breakfast and around Roanoke, VA

Today we wake up to a beautiful sunrise

and had our first breakfast at the hotel


Then we went to our Second Breakfast this time in Roanoke proper:


Who can go wrong with scratch biscuits.


Today's Special Biscuit:  Beef tongue with Russian Dressing on an herb biscuit:


Amy had the Egg and Brisket biscuit

Then we were off to the junk yard... no it is a store called: 




But we were 15 minutes early, and they were closed.  and we did not wait.

Next stop Bristol Virginia or is it Tennessee?

Leaving on or Christmas Holiday Trip to Conroe, TX

We left New Jersey this afternoon, headed west on our adventure to Conroe TX.


The first planned stop is in about 4 hours, and 245 miles, in Hagerstown MD.

This is a wonderful Bavarian restaurant in downtown Hagerstown.  The decor is perfect.


 We had the 

Herzhafter Sauerbraten:  Tender Pot Roast in Sweet-Sour Sauce, served with Apple-Flavored Red Cabbage and one of our grilled Bavarian Bread Dumpling.  Amy subbed the Spätzle


And The


Wiener Schnitzel: Lightly breaded Pork, grilled to perfection, served with Rahmsauce on side and Spätzle.

On the way down, we hit five states:New Jersey (1), Pennsylvania (2), Maryland (3), West Virginia (4), and spending the night in Virginia (5).
